Description of Project:

 The project involved the upgrade of Great Western Highway at Kelso from Ashworth Drive to Lee Street.

Scope of Works:

The key features of the works included:

  • Reconstruction and widening of approximately 2.4km of road to four lanes with central median
  • Demolition of existing bridge at Boyd Creek
  • Construction of new bridge
  • Realignment of Boyd Creek
  • Demolition and replacement of multi-cell culvert
  • Construction of retaining walls and reinforced masonry stems, footings, clay brick facing and bullnose capping
  • Provision of two sets of traffic signals at Great Western Highway and Pat O’Leary Street and Boyd Street intersections
  • Installation of CCTV
  • Property adjustments to 60 allotments
