Description of Project:
Randwick City Council is working to improve the streets and public spaces in their area to make them safer and more inviting, especially for people walking or riding a bike. The works include creating better pedestrian links, installing cycleways, streetscape upgrades and greening the streets. The project is being delivered by Transport for NSW on behalf of Randwick City Council, as part of a $240 million investment by the Australian and NSW Governments to fix congestion hotspots, expand the cycling network and help the economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Scope of Works:
The key features of the works included:
- Removal and disposal of existing kerbs, gutters, footpaths, stormwater, and other minor structures
- Earthworks, removal and disposal off-site of topsoil, excavation of cuttings, placing of general fill, offsite disposal of spoil material as required
- Supply and placement of pavement materials including asphaltic concrete, base and subbase materials
- Cold Milling
- Stormwater drainage (both surface and subsurface) including modification to existing and construction of new stormwater infrastructure; adjustment of utility pit lids to suit new levels
- Pavement marking and raised pavement markers
- Construction of cycleways, footpaths, medians, traffic islands and cycle separators
- Ancillary Works, including new kerbs and gutters, driveways, laybacks, shared paths and infill medians
- TCS works including new post installations, phasing adjustments and new loops
- Modification to existing overhead electrical services, including installation of new poles and street lighting
- Signposting
- Landscape and vegetation works
