Description of Project:
The clearing and grubbing of the borrow area, railway embankment and dam water storage areas. Excavation of the borrow area to a depth of approximately 20 metres. The basic requirement was to excavate to ‘clean’ rock (between 6 to 30 metres in depth). Construction of a dam using suitable material from the borrow area (including; associated riprap), rail embankment, quarry dewatering, noise bunds, stripping and stockpiling of topsoil for re-use in re-vegetation of bunds and embankments, stockpiling of oversize rocks, specalised landscaping, haul roads (incl. protective bunds for use during construction and for future operations).
Scope of Works:
The key features of the works included:
- Construction of haul road/s including ramps
- Maintenance of a haul road from the existing pit to the Overburden Storage Areas.
- Clearing and grubbing Railway embankment and dam water storage areas
- Excavation of the borrow area to a depth of approx 20m
- Excavation of clean rock between 6 to 30m in depth
- Quarry dewatering
- Stripping and stockpiling of oversize rocks to be used as riprap and drainage works
- Specialised landscaping
