Description of Project:

The works involved the widening of Stacey Street northbound to provide an additional lane between Macauley Avenue and Stanley Street, and upgrades to the intersections of Macauley Avenue and Stanley Street. An improved streetscape that includes the removal and replacement of pavements, kerbs & gutters, resurfacing of driveway laybacks up to the footpath and new stormwater drainage.

Scope of Works:

The key features of the works included:

  • Construction of an additional northbound lane on Stacey Street, between Macauley Avenue and Stanley Street
  • Providing new guard rails on Stacey Street northbound, between Macauley Avenue and Stanley Street
  • Altering Macauley Avenue to have dual right turning lanes onto Fairford Road as well as a dedicated bus right turn lane
  • Construction of an additional lane on Fairford Road which when completed will have three northbound lanes and a dedicated left turn lane at the intersection of Macauley Avenue
  • Relocation of the pedestrian crossing across Stacey Street to the other side of Macauley Avenue to improve pedestrian safety and traffic flow
  • Extension of the right turn bay on Stacey Street to allow motorists to turn right into Stanley Street safely
  • Removal of the permanently closed footbridge over the stormwater culvert on Stacey Street directly opposite Petunia Avenue
  • Tree Removal and Trimming
  • Installation of drainage, kerb and gutter along the western verge of Stacey Street
  • The installation of traffic signals on Salvia Avenue
  • Construction of 150 piles to facilitate a piled retaining wall on the eastern verge of Stacey Street northbound
